I hope the day will come where these places will be shaken
I wish to tell people that no matter what you are told or what has been done to you, you deserve to be helped for your struggles. Psychiatrists and therapists should not be allowed to control, restrict, abuse or even endanger their patients personal safety under the guise of “help” or “good intentions”.
It’s said most people who live with disabilities or mental health conditions know their experiences better than what anyone else could claim. Horrible amounts of sanism, ableism and racism is accepted simply because these places can hide it behind closed doors and said to be enforced “guidelines”.
Many of us have seen the truth and cruelty.
Many people lost their lives not truly because of their illnesses or own will, but the actions, decisions and words of professionals. Which had left them helpless, wordless and trapped, blamed to be caused by their illnesses, or a “lack thereof”.
Movie testimonies about people being forcibly mistreated and separated, even legally for their very real physical diseases and illnesses? These same exact things are happening every day in the mental health field.
I am sure, every day, that it is not just me who has seen and known of human beings being deliberately abused and neglected from treatment, having no choice but to manage everything alone, labeled as delusional for protecting their basic human rights, and losing their lives.
All because other people have a different status and reputation than those of us who live with these conditions first hand.
I always pray for the day, when human beings will be seen with the humanity we all deserve, not “guinea pigs”, not “consenting” to every kind of abuse; simply because we seek support from systems which are believed to be forever good-willed, by those who have never seen or experienced the negative sides.
I hope the day will come where these places will be shaken and shown to be every single thing they truly are, not just what they allow the public to see. Knowing others have been through similar has helped me learn I am not alone. Maybe one day we all will stand up together and stand out, regardless of our differences and experiences, to show others the truth.
